Representing the main sea front area of Llandudno as a tourist resort, north shore is a three mile crescent shaped bay, flanked by two limestone headlands, the Great and Little Ormes. It is the most popular and developed of Llandudno's two sandy beaches being sheltered from prevailing south westerly winds and enclosed by the headlands.
At the Great Ormes end stretches Llandudno's most popular attraction, the 2,295 foot long pier, completed in 1875. This, along with its wide promenade and impressive terrace of victorian sea-facing hotels give Llandudno a distinctly Victorian feel. A heritage of which the town is proud.
Llandudno has all the trappings of both a modern holiday rsort and those of a Victorian seaside resort. There are pleasure boat rides from a jetty adjacent to the pier. Sea fishing, windsurfing and sailing are popular pursuits here. Llandudno Yacht Club regularly hold competitions and events. There's a children paddling pool, and during the summer there are many special events and displays on the promenade. Visiting and local bands play on the Victorian style bandstand. For the more traditional, there are beach games, Punch and Judy, and donkey rides on the promenade.
Dogs are allowed on the beaches in restricted areas. Lifeguards patrol during the summer months, and all the hotels, restaurants, shops etc. that you could need can be found in Llandudno.
I'm not sure of the status as far as kitesurfing goes here, but windsurfing can be good in NW clockwise through the Easterly winds,
